Handicraft workshop in Smerzyn - Pałuki embroidery
Today, at the invitation of the Chair of the Żnin County Council, Ms Aleksandra Nowakowska, members of the PTTK Pałuki Branch in Żnin had the pleasure of taking part in a special handicraft workshop held in Smerzyn.
The workshop was organised by Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi,
and led by Ms Krystyna Ługiewicz - a master of Pałuki embroidery.
It was a rare chance to get to know the secrets and techniques of traditional Pałuki embroidery, to talk about its history and its meaning for our region, and to exchange experiences.
There was also plenty of conversation, smiles and a friendly atmosphere. It is meetings like this that show how important it is to look after our local traditions
and pass them on to the next generations.
