Members of the PTTK Pałuki Branch in Żnin took part in the ceremonies marking the 87th anniversary of the outbreak
of the Second World War.
Together we paid tribute to all those who died during the war, keeping alive the memory of history and of the tragic events that will always remain part of our shared memory.

Żnin marked the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War
Ceremonies marking the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War were held in Żnin. Representatives of the local authorities, institutions, schools, organisations and associations, together with residents, paid tribute to the victims of the war.
The commemorations began with Holy Mass at St Florian's Church (kościół pw. św. Floriana) in Żnin. Participants then gathered at the Monument of Struggle and Martyrdom (Pomnik Walki i Męczeństwa) on ul. Kościuszki, where speeches were given by the Mayor of Żnin, Łukasz Kwiatkowski, and Żnin Town Councillor Dariusz Skalski.
Later in the ceremony the delegations laid flowers and candles at the monument, paying tribute to the fallen and the murdered. The victims were also remembered at the grave marking the execution site at the place known as Probostwo on ul. Mickiewicza.
Thank you to everyone who took part in today's commemorations and helped keep alive the memory of the tragic events of 87 years ago.
