Trip “Discovering the charms of Toruń”

“Discovering the charms of Toruń” - a trip full of history, flavours and unforgettable impressions!
Yesterday the participants of the trip organised by the PTTK Pałuki Branch in Żnin had the chance to discover the most beautiful corners of Toruń. The trip was held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Żnin, Mr Łukasz Kwiatkowski, for which we are very grateful.
Thanks to the fascinating stories told by our guide, Mr Marek Bramorski, we learned the history of the city
from the days of the Teutonic Knights right up to the present.
We visited, among other places, the ruins of the Teutonic castle, the outer bailey and the granary quarter of the Old Town, strolled along the picturesque boulevard on the Wisła, and admired the Dąmbski Palace, the Church of St Johns (kościół św. Janów), the House of Mikołaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus) and the famous Leaning Tower. We also called at the Old Town Market Square, where we met the symbols of Toruń - the dog Filuś, the donkey, the frogs and, of course, Mikołaj Kopernik.
Our guide had a nice surprise for us, treating everyone to traditional Toruń Katarzynki gingerbread.
The real hit was the workshop
at Piernikarnia Starotoruńska! There was the history of Toruń gingerbread, a journeyman's exam, lots of laughter and gingerbread we made with our own hands, which everyone took
home. The atmosphere was fantastic and the smiles never left
the participants' faces!
After the workshop it was time
to explore Toruń on our own - walks, shopping, cafés and more lovely memories.
