75 years of PTTK in Poland - Pałuki celebrations
at the Żnin library

Miejska i Powiatowa Biblioteka Publiczna w Żninie hosted a ceremonial meeting devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK) in Poland, combined with a presentation of the achievements of the local history enthusiasts of Pałuki and Żnin.

As part of the event an exhibition was opened showing the history and activity of PTTK in our area - from the founding of the Pałuki Branch in 1954 to present-day initiatives. We recalled distinguished figures: Elżbieta Żurawska, Janina Balska, Zbigniew Skorwider, Janusz Księski, Feliks Malinowski and many others who for decades built the foundations of tourism in Pałuki.

During the meeting prizes were awarded
in the competition to design a postage stamp
marking 75 years of PTTK.
The creativity and commitment of the entrants perfectly underlined the jubilee character of the event.

Today's meeting was also a chance to pay tribute to our predecessors - people who for years organised rallies, gatherings and numerous sightseeing initiatives with passion.
We also stressed that the PTTK Pałuki Branch in Żnin is entering a new stage of its activity under the leadership of President Magdalena Gabryszak , together with an energetic Branch Board.

Our warm thanks go to Mr Jerzy Szociński for the inspiration and passion behind this event.
His passion for the history of local sightseeing was key to making this meeting happen.

We are also hugely grateful to the Director, Ms Beata Czaczyk, and
the staff of Miejska i Powiatowa Biblioteka Publiczna w Żninie for their kindness, cooperation and for creating a special space to present the rich sightseeing traditions of Pałuki.

We thank everyone who came for being there and for celebrating the national PTTK jubilee together in a local, Pałuki edition.
