in today's commemoration of the 86th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War.

Today the 86th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War was commemorated
The ceremonies began with Holy Mass in the church of św. Florian in Żnin. After the service the delegations gathered at Pomnik Walki i Męczeństwa (the Monument of Struggle and Martyrdom).
Speeches were given by the Mayor of Żnin, Łukasz Kwiatkowski, and the President of Żnińskie Towarzystwo Kultury, Marek Wilgórski. Then local government delegations, cultural institutions, schools, community organisations, organisational units of the Municipality of Żnin and other participants laid flowers at the monument.
After the ceremony, on the initiative of Żnińskie Towarzystwo Kultury, the delegations went to the execution site behind the petrol station on ulica Mickiewicza - at the so-called former Probostwo. The site commemorates Poles - former Greater Poland insurgents - murdered by the Nazis in autumn 1939. Flowers were laid at the obelisk, and a member of Żnińskie Towarzystwo Kultury, Stefan Czarnecki, said a few words to those gathered.
